Mountain Bike Skills Coaching
Cactus Adventures Mountain Bike Skills Coaching will educate and empower you as a rider taking with newly found skills that you will use on every single ride. We begin coaching you on the fundamentals covering body position, bike/body separation, effective braking, gearing and cadence, wheel lifts, and introduction to cornering techniques before heading out on the trail. Once there we can practice your newly learned and get an introduction to steep transitions, negotiating trail features, climbing and descending.
Whether it's your 1st time on a mountain bike or a more experienced rider, these skills will build your confidence, teach you the proper balance and body position on the bike, and make you a better and safer rider. This is for all levels of fitness & skill.

James' zeal for 2-wheels began as a teenager with dirt bikes, racing motocross, and Bicycle Motocross (BMX) in Southern California. After moving to Phoenix in 2003, James found that it was home to a large amount of trails and a very active mountain bike scene. One ride was all it took, and he was hooked on mountain biking.
During his 12 year career of managing bicycle shops, James hosted a weekly mountain bike shop ride. It was exciting to see all the new riders coming into the sport, many just starting out, needing advice and coaching to help with the beginning of their mountain biking journey. This called for formal training and James got his coaching and guiding certificate. Once his training was complete, it was time to put it into practice. He started as an assistant instructor for Ninja Mountain Bike Performance working up to lead instructor. James now gets to take his passion for mountain bike coaching and bring it with him to Cactus Adventures.
